Brother EHL-2040If you need to print black n’ white documents in volume, this laser printer would be soooo much better than an inkjet. Plus, it’s practically free!

Features:

  • 250-sheet tray
  • 2400×600 resolution
  • USB 2.0 Interface (and a Parallel interface for you really late adopters!)
  • up to 20 pages per minute
  • PC and Mac compatible

This definitely falls into the “disposable printer” catagory… the replacement toner cartridges cost more than the printer. It comes with a starter toner cartridge which provides 1500 printed pages, all for $39.99 (after rebate).

An "early adopter" pick on Amazon three years ago, this item is now being forced into the "old news" category by higher-speed wireless protocols.

Still, 54 Mbs is pretty fast, and this is one of the most reliable wireless routers out there!

ESA E4000Do you keep missing episodes of 24, or maybe Grey's Anatomy?  Can't afford a TiVo?  Well, here's your answer: A Cheap, refurbished VCR (remember these? This is REALLY old tech) that also happens to play DVDs.

For the cost of a trip for two to the Cineplex (snacks included), you can start recording your favorite shows and FF through those commercials.  The built-in DVD player is a bonus, that will also play audio CDS.  It's a 20th Century multimedia center!

I couldn't find any reviews anywhere, but at this price, it's probably just fine.

Lexar 128MB Jump DriveOne- and Two-GigaByte jump drives are all the rage, and there are a few companies marketing 8 GB jump drives for hundreds of dollars.  But do you really need one that big?

Why not turn to last year's size, and get a great price.  At $10 bucks a pop, get a few of these and just leave 'em lying around.  If you really need to move a file over 128 MB, burn a CD!

PIXMA iP1600 PrinterI've been a big fan of dosposable printers for some time (buy 'em, use 'em till the ink runs out, then sell them on ebay and buy another), and here's a gem: The PIXMA iP1600 from Canon.

It's fast, prints on multiple paper sizes, and at this price, it sells for less than the ink cartridges that come in the box.

Here's a glowing review at PC Magazine.

UPDATE: Outpost has dropped the price (it was 29.99).

iPod ShuffleI had an iPod Shuffle for a while, and really liked it. I always enjoyed not knowing what the next song would be. This is the base model which hold about 100 songs. It coms with earbuds, a lanyard, and its battery gives you around 12 hours of continuous playing time.
